Taking care of our health requires taking time to slow down and understand the specifics about an individual and the systems in which they operate. Without this information, it is challenging to effectively make long lasting change. There is not a "one size fits all" theoretical approach. What is important to me, is understanding you. The most effective therapy involves you and your strength and resiliency to do the work. You are the expert of your life experience. The therapist is a conduit (G. Alexander, 2024).
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist - Associate in the state of Washington working with individuals, couples, and families. As an associate, I am grateful to work closely with my supervisor, Gary D. Alexander.
My life's work began 20+ years ago working with people and their physical body during injury, surgery, treatment, and recovery. The body is a gauge to the human heart. Physical healing reveals distinct connections within the physical, mental, and emotional systems of a person (both inside and outside the person). Being human is a dynamic experience.
As a psychotherapist, an integral part of my work is meeting you where you are in the moment. Here is a basic example, close your eyes and imagine a forest. With the image that comes to mind, are you looking at the forest? Or are you in the forest? These are two very different experiences. Whatever it looks like to you, I meet you there. Therapy is an adventure. It is also deeply personal.
